5 TIPS FOR PLANNING A PERFECT SWEET 16
Before a girl starts to dream about her fairy tale wedding she is all about planning the perfect Sweet 16. From the Venue all the way down to the centerpieces, she thinks about every detail that her friends at school will be talking about for weeks following the event.
Planning these events can be a bit stressful when you want to make sure every detail is covered to perfection. Here are 5 tips that will help take some of the edge off when planning your Sweet 16.
1. THE EVENT IS ALL ABOUT YOU SO STAND OUT!
Whether you are having a court or not it's important that when you choose your dress you make sure it's one that will have you standing out in the crowd. Save the little black dress for when you're a guest at one of your friend's parties. Better yet, kindly ask your friends who are attending to keep the attire simple both in color and style. If you have a court, Make sure the color you choose for their dresses is a good contrast to your own.

2. CHOOSING THE RIGHT VENUE
The on going theme of this list is about this event being all about you. This includes choosing a venue that best fits your style and personality. If you’re the type of girl who loves bright and sunny days than it’s probably not best to choose a venue that doesn’t offer much in the way of window lighting and scenery. Also you may want to have the party in the afternoon rather than the evening so you can take full advantage of the scenery around you. If you have a
flare for the dramatic than take everything from above and flip it right on it’s head.

3. BOOKING A PHOTOGRAPHER
Now I know what you’re thinking. Sure the photographer who is writing this is going to go on and on about how hiring him is a must. Honestly I could probably go on for days about why hiring a photographer is a necessity but I’m going to keep this short because I rather show you why than tell you why. Below is a side by side comparison of a photo taken by a professional and a photo taken by a newer model smart phone.
Aside from capturing every exciting moment during the party, having a photographer will allow you to create memorable photos that she will remember for the rest of her life.

4. THEME IT UP!
Believe it or not having a theme can really make things much simpler. Think about it, having a theme pretty much lays everything out for you from outfit selection, decorations, favors and music selection. Some popular themes include Fairy tale, Beach Party, Masquerade, and the list goes on. If you have trouble choosing a theme the obvious thing to do is start with the season and work from there. My daughter’s birthday is October 25th so if she decides she wants a theme we might explore a Masquerade or Halloween theme.

5. CHOOSING THE RIGHT DJ
I’ve photographed many sweet 16’s and have seen it time and time again. You have everything all prepared and laid out just right. The venue is decorated to perfection, The dress looks amazing, Everyone showed up on time and it’s time to party but the DJ just did not live up to expectations. I’ve even been at a party where the MC forgot the birthday girls name during the introduction! (That was embarrassing). Scouting out the DJ is an absolute must. If your budget allows, having a two person team of a DJ and an MC can really make a huge difference.
